The U.S. Geological Survey intends to award a sole-source purchase order to AIRIE LLC for sulfide analysis under FAR Part 12, which governs the acquisition of commercial products and services, due to AIRIE LLC being the only source capable of performing the required Re-Os isotopic analyses on sulfide minerals using a Triton TIMS instrument with a double spike method. The work involves analyzing 32 samples of molybdenite, pyrrhotite, and arsenopyrite collected by the USGS Alaska Science Center to support geologic research on Alaska’s metallogenic evolution, with deliverables requiring geologically reasonable age determinations, analytical uncertainties of ≤0.5% for molybdenites, and publication-ready data tables following established scientific protocols from Stein (2014), Selby and Creaser (2001), and Lawley and Selby (2012). All work must be completed within 30 days of sample receipt, with reanalysis of suboptimal samples performed at no additional cost, and results must be submitted electronically to the USGS Project Officer. The contract has a period of performance from May 30, 2026, to May 29, 2028, with no option periods, and all data produced will become the property of the U.S. Government and released into the public domain. Responses are solicited only via email to Anthony_berry@ios.doi.gov by May 12, 2026, at 0800 hrs PDT, with hard copies or web portal submissions explicitly rejected. The action is structured as a total small business set-aside under FAR 19.5, with the NAICS code 541380 and a size standard of $19.0 million, and while no formal evaluation factors or weights are published, award will be based on technical acceptability, demonstrated capability to meet performance requirements, and past collaboration. The contractor must provide a senior researcher with at least ten years of TIMS experience and economic geology expertise, and while no formal contract clauses, packaging, marking, or invoicing instructions are provided, the procurement is expected to be a firm fixed price arrangement under FAR 12.102(a), and no security clearances or government-furnished property are required.
