The USAF UAV Battlelab is hosting a Lightweight Sensor Industry Demonstration from May 15 to 17, 2006, focusing on showcasing off-board sensing reconnaissance capabilities using lightweight sensors mounted on small air-launched Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The event, aimed at market research for lightweight sensors, emphasizes demonstrating the camera component of these sensors under strict performance criteria, including a maximum weight of 5.5 pounds, the ability to identify a 0.5-meter target at a 2,000-foot slant range, and specific sensitivity standards for both infrared and electro-optical cameras. The demonstrations will take place at the UAV Battlelab located at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, with cameras demonstrated from ground locations only. Participants are required to engage in all five phases of the demonstration, provide all necessary equipment such as cameras, lenses, batteries, display monitors, and connection hardware, and limit representation to two individuals per company. Presentations are strictly capped at 15 minutes due to limited conference time and the field nature of the event. Companies will cover their own travel and demonstration expenses and must submit camera technical specifications by May 12, 2006. The event schedule includes multiple demonstration phases including daytime and nighttime operations, indoor spectrum tests, and urban light demonstrations, with specific setup, travel, and debrief times outlined for both days. Interested companies are directed to contact 1st Lt Ohrenberger for additional information.
