AI Contract Overview

Lee County Parks and Recreation intends to procure maintenance, support, and repair services for specific water treatment and pool management systems, including BECS controllers, Yaskawa variable frequency drives, ChlorKing NEXGEN salt generators, and SENTRY ultraviolet systems, exclusively from Commercial Energy Specialists, LLC. This procurement is designated as a sole-source purchase because Commercial Energy Specialists is the only authorized provider and distributor for these brands within Florida, ensuring compatibility, performance, and compliance with water quality standards. The ChlorKing NEXGEN salt generator, with a capacity of 25 pounds, has proven effective for the county’s commercial pools, whereas alternative equipment with lower capacities has been inadequate, reinforcing the need for standardization with ChlorKing products. The contract, valued between $500,000 and $1.5 million, emphasizes the importance of maintaining system uniformity across all county pools to optimize efficiency and reduce operational costs. The procurement process is open for review by other firms that believe they can supply the required equipment and services, with interested parties directed to contact Kevin Walker at Lee County Procurement Management. The initiative aligns with the county’s goal of ensuring reliable, high-quality water treatment systems and maintaining consistent pool operations across its facilities.

Full Description

*** THIS IS NOT A BID ***   The description of services intended for purchase from a sole source is posted in accordance with section 3.9, Procurement Ordinance 25-11, and will be posted for a minimum of 15 business days.
Commodity or Service Required: BECS, Yaskawa, and ChlorKing Equipment, Maintenance, and Repairs
Description: Lee County Parks and Recreation plans to initiate a sole-source procurement to acquire diagnostics, support, service, repair, parts, and replacements for BECS controllers, Yaskawa variable frequency drives (VFDs), GEN on-site salt generators, and SENTRY ultraviolet systems from Commercial Energy Specialists, LLC. These systems are essential for operating and maintaining the county's pool facilities. Standardizing these systems will enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure consistent performance and compliance with water quality standards.
Intended Sole Source: Commercial Energy Specialists, LLC.
Justification for Sole Source Acquisition: Commercial Energy Specialists, Inc. is the only authorized provider of BECS Technology and the exclusive distributor and service provider for Yaskawa and ChlorKing equipment in Florida. The ChlorKing 25.0 lbs NEXGEN on-site salt generator has reliably met the chlorination needs of Lee County’s commercial pools. In contrast, equipment from other manufacturers, with a 16.0 lbs capacity, has been inadequate for properly chlorinating pools managed by Lee County Parks and Recreation. To ensure uniformity, performance, and adherence to water quality standards, Lee County Parks and Recreation plans to standardize all salt-based chlorination systems with ChlorKing products.
Recommended Procurement Approach: For the reason(s) stated above, Lee County Procurement Management intends to utilize the sole-source procurement method to purchase from Commercial Energy Specialists, LLC, to supply the above.
Respond to: If your firm feels they have the ability to supply the above, please contact Kevin Walker, Lee County Procurement Management, at contact@example.gov for review.
