Dahan Use Permit for Recreational Vehicle Park UP2601C
Solicitation # UP2601C
Lee Tromble, acting for property owner Daniel Dahan, has applied for a conditional use permit from Del Norte County to develop a small recreational vehicle park featuring four park model guest lodging units. Located in the Smith River area of California near the Oregon border, the project site consists of approximately 0.7 acres of bluff-top land, coastal bluff face, and sandy beach. Each unit will include a deck and a detached stick-built structure for a bedroom and bathroom, all positioned at least 16 feet from the bluff edge. The project is situated within the California Coastal Zone and adheres to the Del Norte County Local Coastal Program, carrying a Visitor-Serving Commercial land use designation and Commercial Recreation zoning. The development plan involves the demolition of the vacant and dilapidated former Nautical Inn restaurant and its associated hardscape, with specific measures in place to protect the coastal bluff. Infrastructure improvements include a counterclockwise loop road for internal circulation and a Wisconsin mound on-site sewage disposal system designed for 800 gallons per day. Water service will be provided by the Smith River Community Services District, and the site will offer four parking spaces. The project is bordered by Pelican State Beach to the north and the applicant-owned White Rock Resort to the south. A Notice of Determination issued on May 6, 2026, certifies that the project will not have a significant effect on the environment.
