The Naval Air Systems Command awarded a contract modification, N00019-18-C-1007-P00003, to General Electric Aviation in Lynn, Massachusetts, for Bill of Material configuration changes related to Low Rate Initial Production Lots I and II. This effort specifically covers twenty-two T408-GE-400 engines and associated spare parts designed for the CH-53K helicopter. The procurement was executed as a sole-source award under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), as General Electric is identified as the only source with the necessary technical expertise, proprietary data, facilities, and experience required to integrate these unique engine components. Managed by the Department of Defense office in Patuxent River, Maryland, the contract ensures the production of critical engine components aligns with the aircraft's production schedule. The justification for this non-competitive award emphasizes that General Electric possesses the requisite specialized skills and technical knowledge essential for the T408 engines. This modification supports the broader procurement of engines and support services for the FY-18 CH-53K aircraft fleet.
