The Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition within U.S. Customs and Border Protection is initiating a collaborative effort through a Government-Industry-Academia forum to establish a Border Security Technology Consortium (BSTC). This consortium aims to advance technological solutions in areas such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, infrastructure, and communications relevant to border security operations. The government anticipates providing annual funding ranging from $10 million to $25 million over a potential period of five to seven years to support this initiative. Although this notice encourages engagement and partnership, it does not obligate the government to award contracts based on the forum or workshop outcomes. The Washington Homeland Security Roundtable (WHSR) is facilitating this consortium and will host an Industry Workshop on August 2, 2012, for interested organizations to participate and collaborate. Registration for the workshop is managed online, with administrative details provided through the WHSR website.
