Bridgeport Elementary School Asphalt Play Courts Project

The proposed project will include improvements on approximately 1.08 acres of the Bridgeport ES campus. The proposed project will include the removal and replacement of existing asphalt located at the play area on the southeastern corner of the campus. The new asphalt surface will be restriped to include three basketball courts, three ball walls, two 4-square courts, four tetherball courts, and other various play markings. The gutters and drainage inlets within the project area will be removed and replaced. Seven tetherball posts will be removed, and four new tetherball posts will be installed. Two wooden ball walls will be removed and replaced with three new concrete masonry unit (CMU) ball walls. Existing basketball posts will remain in place. All underground utilities and associated infrastructure will remain. The project will also include the construction of a new concrete walkway around the perimeter of the play area. In addition, minor interior improvements will be made to the restrooms within Building A, consisting of upgrades to plumbing fixtures and accessories. The proposed project will include upgrades to the play structure area. Improvements will consist of the removal and replacement of the existing play structure, swings, and rubberized play surfacing. The existing concrete curbing will be extended. A new 4,800-square-foot shade structure will be installed above the play structure. Construction of the proposed project will be completed in two phases. The replacement of the asphalt and play equipment will occur between June and July 2027. The installation of the shade structure and rubber surfacing will be completed in August 2027. All construction equipment and workers will be staged within the boundaries of the project site, and contractors will adhere to Santa Clarita Municipal Code Section 11.44.080, Special Noise Sources: Construction and Building, to avoid disruption to campus operations. The proposed project will not increase the school's student capacity. All project improvements will be on campus, and no off-site improvements will be part of the proposed project.
