Brooktrails Second Access Project

The Brooktrails Second Access Project is a forecasted infrastructure initiative by the Mendocino County Department of Transportation to construct a new two-mile public roadway in California. The project aims to improve transportation connectivity and enhance emergency response and evacuation capabilities for the Brooktrails community by creating a second access point to the regional transportation system. The proposed rural Major Collector will feature two 12-foot travel lanes and 6-foot paved shoulders, extending from the existing Brooktrails roadway system to North Main Street. The scope of work includes roadway grading, drainage installation, culverts, retaining walls, earthwork, paving, and utility relocations. Construction is anticipated to last approximately 30 months. The project is currently in the environmental review phase under the California Environmental Quality Act, with a focus on mitigating impacts related to tribal cultural resources, hazardous materials, noise, and stormwater runoff. Compliance is required with various standards, including the California Building Code, NPDES permits, and the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.
