Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Request for Information (RFI) - Device Assisted Security Features - FY26

The Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), has issued Request for Information (RFI) 2031ZA26N00007 to gather information regarding novel, device-assisted security features for future generations of U.S. currency. This RFI is strictly for informational and planning purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation or a commitment to award a contract. The BEP is specifically seeking technologies and materials that serve as user-interpreted counterfeit deterrents. These features must be difficult to duplicate but easy for the general public to authenticate using common, low-cost, and ubiquitous devices such as cell phones, LED flashlights, magnets, optical filters, or magnifiers. Interested parties are requested to submit capability statements, brief technical descriptions, and preliminary samples to assist the government in assessing potential tradeoffs and alternatives. The government will review submissions based on their inherent effectiveness as security features, compatibility with design and production factors, durability, environmental acceptability, and other processing requirements. Responses must be submitted by 2:00 PM Eastern Time on November 15, 2026, via email to the designated points of contact, while physical samples should be mailed to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. Respondents are cautioned not to include proprietary, classified, or sensitive information, as the government will not pay for any costs incurred in responding to this RFI and reserves the right to use non-proprietary technical information in future solicitations.
