Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Request for Information (RFI) - R&D Hidden Machine-Readable Security Features - FY26

The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), has issued Request for Information (RFI) 2031ZA26N00005 to gather information regarding novel, emerging, hidden machine-readable security features for future generations of U.S. currency. This RFI is for informational planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or a commitment to award a contract. The BEP is specifically seeking technologies that are not currently in the public domain or commercial use and are designed to be difficult for even subject matter experts to discover or duplicate. Ideal features must be readable by highly discriminating standalone detection systems while remaining resistant to simulation in both material and response. Interested parties are requested to submit preliminary samples and brief technical descriptions to the BEP R&D technical lead, Chris Dollberg, at the Washington, D.C. office. Responses must be submitted no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Time on November 15, 2026. Respondents are responsible for properly marking any proprietary information, though the government reserves the right to use non-proprietary technical information in future solicitations. All costs associated with responding to this RFI are the sole responsibility of the responding parties, as the government will not provide payment for any information or administrative expenses incurred.
