This project is funded by several State grants to increase pace and scale of prescribed burning throughout Butte County to improve fire resilience, restore forest/community health, and rebuild rural skill sets around the practical use or beneficial fire. The project will equip private landowners with the knowledge and skills to use prescribed burning as a fuels management tool, decrease fuel continuity, and reduce the probability of catastrophic wildfire. The proposed project benefits landowners, neighbors, suppression agencies, local native plant and animal communities, and the state's forest and rangeland resources.

Telogia Creek Sand Pine Removal
Solicitation # FWC 26/27-15
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is soliciting competitive bids for sand pine regeneration removal services covering approximately 797 acres at various locations within the Telogia Creek WMA in Liberty County, Florida. The project requires the removal of sand pines using specific methods, mandating hand pulling for pines with a stem diameter of less than one half inch and requiring that saws cut pines below the lowest live branches. Treated pines must be left where they are cut or pulled rather than piled, and all trash and debris must be removed from the site upon completion. Work must be conducted along transects spaced five feet or less apart, ensuring that non-target trees, such as Long Leaf Pine, remain upright. The contract will be awarded to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest total price, based on the summed cost per acre across light, moderate, and heavy sand pine presence levels. The initial term is for one year, with the Commission holding the option to renew the contract annually for up to two additional years. Bidders must be registered in the MyFloridaMarketPlace and SunBiz systems and submit their bids via sealed envelope by the deadline. Compliance requirements include the use of the E-Verify system, adherence to federal safety standards, and the provision of necessary insurance, including Worker's Compensation, automobile, and public liability insurance.
