Calf Creek Recreation Area - Garfield County, UT: Calf Creek Phase 3 Design will increase recreation site capacity, user experience, safety and accessibility. The key repairs and improvements are, expanding parking, fixing drainage problems, replacing failing asphalt surfaces, addressing safety problems at the low water crossing, reducing maintenance needs and improving traffic and pedestrian flow. The new restroom facilities will replace the non-ADA facility with units that are ADA accessible and will allow BLM to keep the restrooms open all year. The expanded vehicle parking will allow for increased visitor capacity and necessary stormwater runoff improvements will avoid further damage, closure time and reduced maintenance. Funding is coming from the State of Utah’s Outdoor Recreation Initiative (ORI) grant. Calf Creek Recreation Site is the most visited recreation site in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and receives more than 35,000 visitors per year. This project consists of a design task order to complete the construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and estimates.
