The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking details on commercially available cellular node products for integration into their Mobile Communications Vehicle project. The product must support Verizon 2G and 3G networks, with optional 4G capability, and be fully interoperable with Verizon commercial cell phones. Key technical requirements include the ability to restrict service to authorized users, support connectivity for at least five users given sufficient bandwidth, and operate both within the continental U.S. and, ideally, overseas. The node must provide a minimum cell coverage radius of 300 feet, enable seamless handoff between the cell bubble and Verizon macro-cell signals, and describe capabilities such as operational range, initialization time, GPS data transmission, antenna connectivity, physical characteristics, power requirements, and availability status. Respondents are asked to submit comprehensive company and product information, including contact details, product descriptions, pricing and schedule information, and whether they are manufacturers or distributors. This RFI is for information gathering only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment by the government to procure. All submitted information will be treated as public and may be included in government documentation. The intent is to conduct an objective assessment to inform potential future projects, and vendors may be contacted for additional details. Submissions are due by September 15, 2014, with technical inquiries directed to designated SPAWARSYSCEN contacts and contractual questions routed to the designated Contracting Officer.
