Chip Seal 2026

The Chip Seal 2026 project is a routine pavement maintenance initiative under San Joaquin County’s seven-year cycle program, currently in its fourth cycle, targeting roadways across Districts 1, 3, 4, and 5 in California. The scope includes removing existing thermoplastic striping and pavement markers, repairing structural failures with full-depth 0.5 feet of Hot Mix Asphalt Type A, applying chip seal treatment to the road surfaces, and adjusting survey monument frames and covers. The project is environmentally sensitive due to the presence of large trees near work zones that may harbor nesting migratory birds, particularly the threatened Swainson’s Hawk, prompting a recommended pre-construction survey if work occurs between February 15 and September 1 to comply with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
