Columbia Heights & Mount Pleasant Public Realm Improvement Grant

The District of Columbia Office of Planning is offering the Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant Public Realm Improvement Grant to implement enhancements based on the Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant Vision Framework for Public Realm Design. The program aims to create tangible improvements and community activations that enhance the identity, comfort, and use of public spaces in these neighborhoods. Eligible projects include the installation of public art, seating, shade structures, lighting, wayfinding, greening, and interactive installations, as well as community events. Awardees are required to track and report impacts such as pedestrian activity, event attendance, and support for local businesses. The total available funding for this effort is 200,000 dollars, with the agency anticipating no more than two awards. The period of performance extends from the date of issuance through September 30, 2027. To be eligible, applicants must be licensed as a business or nonprofit in good standing with the District of Columbia Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection, maintain a physical location within the District, and provide a Clean Hands certificate. Organizations must also demonstrate the financial and administrative capacity to manage grant funds and meet District reporting requirements. Applications must be submitted by October 29, 2026, via the portal specified in the Request for Applications.
