Full Description
The City of Fairfax has transformative goals for the Fairfax Circle Activity Center, with a desire for a redesigned Fairfax Circle intersection and multimodal network to complement the area’s transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use gateway to the City. The Fairfax Circle Small Area Plan (SAP) envisions this area as a sustainable mixed-use village to welcome people not just to shop but also to live, work, and thrive in an environmentally sensitive center.
The Fairfax Circle intersection, where Fairfax Boulevard, Routes 29/50 and Blenheim Boulevard meet, is a central feature in the Activity Center. However, as currently designed, it has both operational and safety problems and does not support the future goals envisioned in the SAP.
Fairfax Circle Activity Center’s transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use walkable district and a welcoming gateway to the city hinges on reconfiguring the Fairfax Circle intersection to accommodate all modes more safely and comfortably.
