The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), representing the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (PEO-C4I), intends to extend the existing contract N00039-10-D-0028 with Northrop Grumman Corporation for an additional six months, from October 1, 2013, through March 31, 2014. This extension includes authorization for up to seven more firm-fixed-price Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) production units. The extension serves as a bridge to the upcoming CANES production Multiple Award Contract (MAC), anticipated after the release of SPAWAR RFP N00039-13-R-0013. The authority for this extension aligns with applicable federal regulations related to the justification for non-competitive contract extensions. The CANES program is designed to provide a secure, consolidated afloat network essential for Naval and Joint operations, emphasizing the reduction in afloat network quantity through a Common Computing Environment and mature cross-domain technologies. Key objectives include minimizing infrastructure footprint alongside associated logistics, sustainment, and training costs while improving network reliability, security, interoperability, and application hosting capabilities to meet evolving Warfighter needs. This notice is informational and not a solicitation for proposals, and inquiries can be directed to designated SPAWAR contacts.
