The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Construct New Research Building for Graduate Research and AI Institute – Phase 1 project at the State University of New York at Binghamton. The Project will construct phase 1 of a new, approximately 35,000 GSF, multi-story building to serve as a collaborative hub for researchers from disparate disciplines such as engineering, sciences, arts, and humanities. The building will house research activities that lead to innovative technology and explore society’s connection with technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, biotechnology, microelectronics, and clean energy. The building will promote a sense of connectivity through these collaborations, connecting the University’ s research community with each other and with the region’s communities. Phase 1 of this project will focus on graduate research and artificial intelligence by creating a new AI Center with dry labs, collaboration spaces, and faculty support spaces. The site for this new multi-story research facility is on the south side of campus, along the East/West Drive, opposite Bartle Library. This area is currently used as a visitors parking lot and is adjacent to lot W. Utilities required and located nearby include water, sanitary lines, storm water drainage, telecom, and electrical. All utilities require investigation. An embedded program study will be required for this project for the phase 1 building. The available budget will determine the building’s final square footage and programmatic elements, which may result in a different footprint than outlined above. The construction value is estimated to be approximately $64,993,000.
