Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is seeking abbreviated proposals from qualified Inuit firms for a construction project to upgrade the main kitchen at Cape Dyer in the Nunavut Settlement Area. This procurement is governed by the Nunavut Agreement and the Treasury Board’s Directive on Government Contracts for the Nunavut Settlement Area, which restricts bidding exclusively to Inuit firms registered and in good standing on the Inuit Firm Registry. The selection will be based on criteria including Inuit ownership, firm location within the Settlement Area, Inuit employment, and training opportunities, aiming to support Indigenous participation. The estimated contract value is approximately $1.5 million, and no site visit will be arranged for this solicitation. Prospective bidders must hold a valid Designated Organization Screening from the Contract Security Program and direct all inquiries strictly to the designated contracting authority, Craig Patterson. Failure to comply with this may lead to disqualification. Relevant tender documents and bidding information are accessible via merx.com, and contract award results along with payment transparency details are published on the DCC website. The procurement aligns with Canada’s commitment to Indigenous inclusion and modern treaty obligations, allowing set-aside measures that support Indigenous businesses in the region. The deadline for submission is May 13, 2026.
