The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, is soliciting sealed bids for the Cow Creek Road Salvage Timber Sale A, which encompasses approximately 587 acres within the northwest perimeter of the Cow Creek Wildfire area in Levy County, Florida. The sale includes dead, dying, and green pine timber in the Black Prong Tract of Goethe State Forest and is divided into two harvest boundary categories: a Primary area of about 399 acres designated for clearcutting and a Contingency area of roughly 188 acres that will be monitored to determine if harvesting is necessary. All operations must begin within ten calendar days of contract execution, and careful attention must be paid to protected waterbodies and red-cockaded woodpecker clusters, which will be marked prior to harvesting. Timber designation for removal will be determined by the Forester-in-Charge or an authorized representative, focusing on salvage pine products such as pulpwood, chip-n-saw, sawtimber, and fuelwood, with no volume estimate provided. The agreement term extends for twelve months and bidders should note that simultaneous winning of multiple salvage sales (A, B, and C) requires choosing just one, allowing for efficient harvesting and quicker responses. Complete bid information is available through the point of contact, and bids will be opened on May 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Gainesville, Florida. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive irregularities in the bidding process.
