Full Description
In March of 2021, a vehicle crashed into the Northeast corner of the Pithon Coulee bridge on Shell Beach Drive. The impact of the crash forced the existing handrail to twist causing damage to the bridge’s handrail, deck, and substructure. The crash also damaged beyond repair and existing streetlamp that was present on the Northeast corner of the bridge. The general scope of work for this project includes the following:
• The reconstruction of the Northeast portion of the concrete bridge and sidewalk. • Grout spalling and sealing cracks along the bridge substructure. • Clean and repaint all 4 sections of existing decorative concrete handrailing. • Replacing with new streetlamps at each of the four corners of the bridge, including the associated wiring & conduit. • The reconstruction of a portion of the existing pavement at the Northeast approach in order to:
1. Access and address any voids present behind the abutment. 2. Better facilitate pedestrian traffic transitioning away from the bridge.
