The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to issue a sole source purchase order to Ovid Technologies, Inc., located in Norwood, Massachusetts, to secure access to four specialized research databases: CINAHL, EMBASE, HAPI, and CSA Sociological Abstracts. These databases are essential resources that support the research activities of CDC scientists. The procurement is justified under FAR part 6.302-1, which allows for sole source acquisitions when only one known source can fulfill the requirement. No competitive solicitation will be released, though other firms that believe they can provide similar services are invited to notify the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date to potentially prompt a competitive process. The government will consider any responses solely to decide whether to conduct competitive procurement. The contract is designated under the title "D -- Ovid Databases" with solicitation number 00HCAJ55-2005-18472 and was posted on March 30, 2005. The primary point of contact for this procurement is Contract Specialist Christine Pettie, who can be reached via email or fax, with Dale F Defilipps also available as an additional contract specialist.
