The Washington Headquarters Services Acquisition and Procurement Office plans to award a sole source contract to Reuters America Inc. in Washington, D.C., for a unique service that provides real-time monitoring and search capabilities for news articles and wire copy relevant to the Department of Defense. This service streams newly published news content continuously and filters it to focus exclusively on DoD-related information, enabling timely access to important news stories. The contract will have a base period of 12 months starting October 1, 2007, with the option to extend for four additional one-year periods. The decision to pursue a sole source procurement is justified by the exclusivity of the service and proprietary nature of the information provided by Reuters America Inc., which precludes competition. The contract supports the DoD’s need for prompt, filtered news content to enhance situational awareness and decision-making. This announcement serves for informational purposes and includes contact information for the responsible contract specialist within the Washington Headquarters Services.
