A part of this process is the critical need to access state criminal history records and motor vehicle and driver?s records. The National Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (NLETS) is owned and governed by the U.S. states, NLETS has the most current and comprehensive state and local enforcement records. More importantly, NLETS is a crucial vehicle for fostering the exchange of information between law enforcement agencies that access and contribute to the NLETS database increase, increasing the need for TSA to access these resources. NLETS is the only source which provides access to this information. This announcement constitutes the intentions of the TSA to enter into a contract with the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System on a single source basis, in accordance with the TSA Acquisition Management System Management Directive No. 300.4.
