D -- Sybase Database Software Maintenance

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Sybase, Inc. (6550 Rock Spring Drive, Suite 800, Bethesda, MD 20817-1132), for procurement of the following requirement(s): product upgrades and patches for existing (i.e. previously-purchased), Sybase-brand database software for the period from 1 October 2007 to 30 November 2007. Sybase, Inc. is the only known source capable of providing the required software maintenance services. This procurement will be conducted under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as described in FAR 6.302-1; there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice is not a request for quotations or bids. The Government does not intend to pay for any information received in response to this notice. All interested parties must respond within three (3) calendar days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating the capability of your firm to provide the services described herein. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered. Any responses to this announcement shall refer to the solicitation/reference number cited above. If no compelling responses have been received in response to this announcement within the timeframe cited above, USDA/FSIS intends to solicit only Sybase, Inc. for procurement of the requirement cited above.
