AI Contract Overview

The contract seeks information on commercially available deployable wireless communication solutions capable of establishing a pier-side RF link to a naval afloat platform. The goal is to identify systems that can either extend a private shore network wirelessly or utilize commercial wireless providers, such as 4G/LTE, in locations where private infrastructure is unavailable. This effort is focused on gathering market research to better understand existing technologies that can support secure, reliable ship-to-shore communication links. Issued by the Department of Defense’s Niwc Pacific office in San Diego, the posting clarifies that it is not a solicitation but a request for information to guide future decisions. The inquiry was posted in March 2017 and aims to explore options that enhance naval communication capabilities while leveraging commercially available technology to ensure rapid deployment and operational flexibility at ports. The initiative underscores an interest in adaptable solutions suitable for varied shore infrastructure conditions.
