Full Description

Richmond Public Schools is engaged in high school redesign - Passion4Learning (P4L) - with the goal of rethinking how students experience school. Under this new model, schools will be anchored in rigorous, theme-based programming that prioritizes peer collaboration, hands-on learning, and intentional preparation for enrollment in higher education, employment in a high earning career path, or enlistment in national service. At the center of P4L will be the RPS CTE Center. This new campus will serve as both the site for Career and Technical Education teaching and learning, as well as the hub for P4L classrooms for students attending each of the five comprehensive high schools across the city. The Center will be designed to support robust, future-ready programming aligned with current employment trends, while accommodating the expansion of existing offerings and the introduction of new ones as industry demands evolve. The program will include a diverse mix of instructional environments with varying levels of infrastructure intensity, accommodating programs that require specialized equipment and building systems as well as labs and shops with lighter technical needs. The plan also incorporates flexible classrooms and learning studios that can be dedicated to specific Career Clusters or adapted for interdisciplinary use.
