The Department of Defense’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking detailed data on commercially-available Local Area Network (LAN) equipment to support the Military Health Systems. The requirement specifies a range of network switches and related components, including various 48-port and 24-port Power over Ethernet (PoE+) switches with redundant, hot-swappable internal power supplies, 1G and 10G fiber optic GBICs, switch stacks, core chassis, server stackable switches, and a network monitoring solution. The equipment must meet stringent technical specifications such as DISA Unified Capabilities Approved Product List compliance, support for IPv6, Layer 3 Interior Gateway Routing Protocols, spanning tree protocols, VLAN trunking, port-based access control, and Power over Ethernet standards. Redundancy in management functions, switch fabrics, and power supplies is emphasized across core, server farm, and edge layers for high availability. The RFI seeks company background information, product descriptions, feature sets, pricing details, and GSA schedule information to facilitate an objective evaluation of commercially available solutions. Vendors are informed that submissions will be public and that proprietary information should be withheld. The purpose of the RFI is information gathering to inform potential future procurements, not a solicitation for proposals or offers. Respondents need to submit comprehensive product details by 25 October 2016, with communications directed to the technical contact via email. This effort will support SSC-LANT in determining suitable LAN infrastructure components to meet the Department of Defense’s requirements for secure, resilient, and scalable network architecture across military health system facilities.
