Full Description

The United States Government Printing Office(GPO)intends to procure a direct imaging type 4-color press with a UV coating unit. The press shall be equal to 52 DI 4 Color Press manufactured by Presstek. The press must allow for the feeding and printing of a sheet measuring anywhere within the range indicated by the minimum and maximum dimensions given at a speed up to 8000 sheets per hour. The press shall use waterless ink, which eliminates the use of the dampening system as used on a conventional printing press. The press shall be used with offline UV/Aqueous Coating system. With the press, the vendor shall provide UV Coating system. The press shall be equipped with at least three chilled rollers to remove the heat from the ink rollers. Press shall also have a capability of printing GPO Quality Level II. For the information of the Quality Levels, see http://www.gpo.gov/printforms/pdf/qatap.pdf. The press shall have a capability of printing 300 LPI and frequency modulated(FM)screening. It shall also have features that allow the press operator to do plate advancing, imaging, printing and blanket cleaning with a push button. The press shall be equipped with the advanced quality control and color matching system, which is equal to or better that PDS-ProE of Presstek. An infrared drying system shall be installed prior to delivery with sufficient capacity to heat each sheet when the press is operating at maximum speed. Controls shall be provided to allow the selection of any sheet temperature from minimum to maximum.
