Districtwide Firebreak & Weed Abatement

The Grossmont–Cuyamaca Community College District is soliciting bids for the Districtwide Firebreak and Weed Abatement project (B26.008) to be performed at both Cuyamaca and Grossmont Colleges in El Cajon, California. The primary scope of work involves establishing a continuous 30-foot-wide firebreak buffer along designated perimeter areas to mitigate wildfire risks through selective mechanical and manual vegetation cutting. The project includes a 30,000 dollar allowance for unforeseen conditions and three additive alternates, including the application of Roundup ProMax herbicide. The contract will be awarded to the responsible bidder who submits the lowest total base bid. The project is scheduled for a duration of 82 consecutive calendar days, with a final completion deadline of April 16, 2027. Bids are due by December 3, 2026, and must include a bid bond for 10 percent of the maximum bid amount, along with various certifications regarding workers compensation, non-collusion, and prevailing wages. The successful contractor must provide performance and payment bonds for 100 percent of the total bid and comply with the California Labor Code, including the District's Labor Compliance Program and DVBE subcontractor requirements. Invoicing is managed through the Unifier system using a Schedule of Values.
