Global Affairs Canada (GAC) seeks to procure and implement an off-the-shelf subscription-based, cloud-based EMR system. This system will support security, digital medical record-keeping for Canada-Based Staff (CBS) and their families deployed across 178 missions in 110 countries. The EMR system will be a central pillar of GAC’s health-related data management and medical services. It will ensure compliance with Canadian privacy and security regulations (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and, Personal Health Information Protection Act) and facilitate interoperability with Canadian healthcare networks through recognized healthcare data exchange standards (Health Level Seven International (HL7), Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine, PrescribeIT Secure Communication Architecture (PS-CA).
