Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking to replace its current gel electrophoresis system used for protein fraction testing, which currently processes approximately 11,000 clinical results annually. The existing equipment is outdated and nearing the end of its operational life. The procurement aims to upgrade this system with a new and advanced electrophoresis platform, including software enhancements, to maintain and improve laboratory testing capabilities critical for their specialized patient population. Additionally, the RFP seeks to evaluate the potential of capillary electrophoresis technology, considering its integration into the laboratory workflow and the possibility of future purchase based on performance and suitability. The focus for awarding the contract will be solely on serum sample testing, although information on urine testing is also requested. The contract is set for an initial five-year term, with options for two additional one-year renewals, and the deadline for responses is February 28, 2025. The project is located in Erie County, New York, and the procurement is open to qualified vendors without set-aside restrictions for service-disabled veteran-owned businesses.

Full Description

Current protein fraction testing at Roswell Park is performed by gel electrophoresis. The electrophoresis instrumentation is end of life and provides 11,000 annual clinical results. The performance of these assays in house aligns with Roswell’s mission to provide laboratory testing critical for the needs of our specialized patient population.  This RFP will accomplish two goals related to that mission: The replacement of the current gel electrophoresis system with a new and upgraded system/software package. Assist Roswell in evaluating capillary electrophoresis, and its potential for enhancing our patient testing capabilities (and its potential purchase as a result of this RFP).   NOTE: Information on both serum and urine testing is requested, but the awarding of the RFP will be based solely on the serum sample workflow.
