Full Description

The proposed mitigation project involves the elevation of 11 structures on a new open foundation on pilings to the proposed design elevation in lieu of stem walls. The habitable living areas of the original structures will be elevated and the area under the elevated home may only be used for temporary storage or parking. The City of Port Orange also proposes to install ADA-compliant access consisting of lift platforms medically required for homeowners for 2 of the residences to be elevated. When completed, each home will exceed the local Flood Resistant Construction requirements (i.e., having the lowest floor at a minimum of one foot above the Base Flood Elevation (BFE). Although enclosed areas are not anticipated as part of the scope of work of this project, note that in compliance with the NFIP program, any enclosed area below the BFE must have hydrostatic openings consistent with the local building code to allow for automatic entry/exit of floodwaters, and all construction materials below the BFE shall be flood resistant.
