The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has issued an Emergency Permit to Thermo Fisher Scientific (EPA ID# CAD071683940) for the management of hazardous waste at their facility in Pleasanton, California. The permit authorizes the chemical stabilization of four 4-liter containers of tetrahydrofuran that have developed peroxides, posing an imminent fire and explosion risk. This emergency action is conducted under the authority of California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 20, Sec. 66270.61, and is exempt from standard CEQA requirements under Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(4).
