AI Contract Overview
The City of Elizabeth City is seeking professional engineering services for the Causeway Park Restoration Project, which involves revitalizing a city-owned park located on the northern side of the Camden Causeway. The project aims to replace the deteriorated wooden boardwalk spanning approximately 900 feet with a new, ADA-compliant structure of about 800 feet, incorporating observation platforms and a kayak launch to enhance visitor experience. Additionally, the project includes constructing a concrete pad at the entrance to provide two accessible parking spaces and converting part of the existing parking lot into a raingarden to improve stormwater management. The property remains largely natural and vegetated aside from the existing infrastructure. The scope of services encompasses engineering design, bidding and procurement assistance, permitting (notably a CAMA Major Permit), and construction oversight. The project emphasizes adherence to ADA standards and environmental considerations, with a total contract value estimated between $500,000 and $1,500,000. Interested firms must submit their responses by March 28, 2025. The project aims to restore and improve park accessibility, safety, and environmental sustainability, ensuring a functional and inviting space for the community.
