Engineering Services for the Brown's Creek Bridge No. 1 Rehabilitation and Brown's Creek Bridge No. 2 Rehabilitation

The County of Lambton issued solicitation 2022-32 to retain an Engineering Consultant for the rehabilitation of Brown's Creek Bridge No. 1 and Brown's Creek Bridge No. 2, both located on County Road 79 in the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston. The primary objective of the project is to correct structural deficiencies to limit deterioration and extend the useful life of both structures. The selected consultant is responsible for the full project lifecycle, including preliminary and detailed design, topographic site surveys, necessary investigations, securing regulatory approvals and permits, tender development, contractor recommendation, and comprehensive project management and site inspection on behalf of the County. The scope is supported by historical data and recent assessments, including original plans dating back to 1937 and 1971, previous rehabilitation records from 1985 and 2002, and September 2022 OSIM inspection reports. These reports indicate that both bridges require miscellaneous concrete repairs and maintenance within a one to five year window, with Bridge No. 1 holding a Bridge Condition Index of 70.81. The County has disclosed a combined draft capital budget of 1,175,000 dollars for the project. Proponents were required to submit technical and financial proposals by December 13, 2022, conducting their own evaluations to determine the specific scope of work.
