Environmental Review No. 8976 – California Climate Investments Hazardous Tree Removal

Fresno County is seeking to implement a hazardous tree removal project across approximately 470 acres and 19 miles of roadway, including Huntington Lake Road, Camp Sierra Road, and Huntington Lodge Road, as well as communities within Zone 10. The primary objective is to eliminate dead, dying, or diseased trees that threaten public safety, habitable structures, or the accessibility of ingress and egress routes. All hazard trees will be assessed and marked under the supervision of a Registered Professional Forester to ensure precise removal. The project involves coordination across various land ownerships, including utilities parcels and U.S. Forest Service land, requiring strict adherence to federal regulations and California Forest Practice Rules. Specific protections are in place for watercourses and wet areas through the use of flagging, buffers, and equipment exclusion zones. This initiative is part of the California Climate Investments framework and is managed by the Fresno County planning department.
