Expanding global health security through local partnerships in Indonesia

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global Health Center has issued solicitation CDC-RFA-JG-26-0053 to establish a five-year cooperative agreement aimed at strengthening global health security in Indonesia. This initiative focuses on fostering partnerships between the CDC and the Indonesian Ministry of Health to improve the prevention, detection, and response to public health threats. The scope of work prioritizes five key areas: modernizing real-time surveillance and reporting, enhancing laboratory systems, workforce development, immunization efforts, and other public health programs that increase scientific rigor. All projects must align with International Health Regulations, the 2023 Joint External Evaluation recommendations, the National Action Plan for Health Security, and the strategic plans of the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Funding is structured across three components: Core Global Health Security Priorities with a 1.5 million dollar ceiling, Rapid Small-Scale Response with a 5 million dollar ceiling, and Rapid Large-Scale Response with a 10 million dollar ceiling. While the core component is the primary focus for initial funding, the response components may be approved but remain unfunded pending future availability. Applications are due by October 2, 2026, via Grants.gov, with an expected award start date of October 30, 2026. Evaluation is based on a 100-point scale focusing on background and approach, evaluation and performance measurement plans, and organizational capacity. Applicants must be registered in SAM.gov and provide comprehensive cybersecurity plans, data management strategies, and adherence to strict laboratory safety and biorisk management standards.
