Sandia National Laboratories has developed nSIGHTS, a numerical well-test analysis software designed to interpret transient pressure and flow-rate data for estimating key hydraulic parameters such as transmissivity, storativity, and flow geometry. The program incorporates advanced numerical methods based on graph theory to model complex transient pressure scenarios, facilitating the analysis of well tests performed under non-ideal conditions. Its simulation capabilities accommodate variable hydraulic parameters, flow geometries, temperature effects, borehole closure, wellbore storage variations, complex pressure histories, and changing pumping rates. Equipped with sophisticated statistical tools and extensive graphical outputs, nSIGHTS aids users in accurately assessing uncertainties in parameter estimates. The software operates on Windows-based PCs and has practical applications in water resource evaluation, groundwater remediation, groundwater development, and oil and gas exploration and production. Sandia is seeking collaboration with industrial partners and academic institutions to commercialize nSIGHTS and to expand its use as an educational training tool. Interested parties are invited to respond by mail or fax within two weeks, specifying their interest in different markets or applications, as well as the type of partnership agreement they seek, such as licensing or cooperative research. Further details and contact information are provided for initiating partnerships.

Full Description

Sandia National Laboratories has developed a numerical well-test analysis code, nSIGHTS, which analyzes transient pressure and flow-rate data to estimate hydraulic parameters of interest, such as transmissivity, storativity, flow geometry, etc. It also allows for sophisticated statistical evaluation of uncertainty in the parameter estimates, a process aided by extensive graphics capabilities . It is based on numerical methods in turn based on graph theory for transient pressure calculations, allowing simulation/analysis of tests performed under non-ideal conditions. Simulation capabilities include flow and pressure responses in complex systems with variable hydraulic parameters and/or flow geometry, temperature effects, borehole closure, variable wellbore storage, complex pressure histories, and variable pumping rates. It can be run on a PC with a Windows operating system. Areas of practical application include water resource evaluation, groundwater remediation, groundwater development, and oil and gas exploration and production. Sandia is seeking partnerships with industry as well as universities to commercialize this technology and/or further develop its use in the educational field as a training tool. For further information, please respond by mail or fax (No phone calls, please) to Alane Dulski within 2 weeks at : Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0115, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque, NM 87185-0115: Fax +1 (555) 000-0000. Please indicate the date and title of this notice, the markets/application of the technology of interest to you, and the type of partnering agreement (license, CRADA, WFO, etc.) your company/institution would be interested in entering into with Sandia (more information can be found on the Sandia website: www.sandia.gov).
