The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s Snake River Area Office in Burley, Idaho, plans to award a sole source purchase order to the Power County Sheriff’s Department for enhanced security patrols on Reclamation lands near American Falls Dam in Power County. This action is mandated by various cultural and historical protection laws requiring the protection of cultural resources on these lands. The patrols aim to enforce road closures and protect these resources, especially during the high-impact months from May through November. The Power County Sheriff’s Department is uniquely authorized to provide these security services under state and local laws. The procurement will follow simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13 and will be conducted solely as a sole source award under FAR 6.001(a). While this notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals and no competition is planned, any proposals submitted by April 1, 2009, will be reviewed to determine if competitive procurement is warranted. The decision to proceed without competition lies solely with the Government. Contact information is provided for inquiries related to the notice, but no competitive solicitation will be issued.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Snake River Area Office in Burley, ID, intends to award a sole source purchase order to County of Power, Sheriff's Department, 550 Gifford, American Falls, ID, for enhanced security patrols on Reclamation lands located near American Falls Dam, in Power County, Idaho. Reclamation is required by multiple cultural and historical protection Acts to protect cultural resources on Reclamation lands. Enforcement of road closures on Reclamation lands in Power County is a necessary action in fulfilling our legal obligation to protect these resources. Power County Sheriff's Department is the only entity with authority to provide security patrols to implement State and local statutes. These areas are heavily impacted during the spring, summer and fall season; therefore enhanced security patrols for the period between May through November will contribute toward the protection of cultural resources. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only a single source under the authority of FAR 6.001(a) using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and there is no solicitation available. However, proposals received by April 1, 2009, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Inquiries will be accepted by FAX at +1 (555) 000-0000 attention Gaye Mangum, SRA-2314, or by email to contact@example.gov
