The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at the New Mexico State Office plans to negotiate a sole-source contract with Boss Tanks, located in Elko, Nevada, for the procurement of five wildlife water catchment tanks covered under Patent No. 6073583. These tanks are designed to hold 1,800 gallons of water each and are made from rotationally molded, high-density cross-linked polyethylene with ultraviolet inhibitors, ensuring durability and suitability for wildlife use. Key features include a bird ladder, a 1.25-inch pre-installed overflow pipe adapter, and an integrated drinker mechanism requiring no float valves. The tanks and covers are dark brown and constructed for partial burial, strong enough to resist damage from wildlife and environmental factors, and designed for easy transport and field installation without special permits. The total combined weight of the tank and cover is approximately 800 pounds, and the materials and design aim to minimize maintenance with seamless construction and molded-in components. This acquisition, expected to cost less than $31,000, is being conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, citing Boss Tanks as the only responsible source capable of meeting these specifications. While no formal request for quotes or solicitations will be issued, other interested firms are invited to submit evidence that they can provide comparable products at or below the estimated price by August 15, 2007. If no suitable alternatives are identified, the order will proceed with Boss Tanks. This action is publicly posted to fulfill FAR 5.101(a)(1) requirements, with inquiries directed to the contract officer Mary Ann Crafton-Williams. The procurement is unrestricted under NAICS code 326199.
