FFA Sierra Nevada Communications, FIBER 108 – Lower Phase

The FIBER 108 – Lower Phase project, led by Sierra Nevada Communications and funded under the California Public Utilities Commission, aims to deliver high-speed fiber broadband to 284 unserved locations in Sylvan Lodge and Long Barn, providing symmetrical 5,000/5,000 Mbps service, while simultaneously upgrading service for 291 existing customers in Sierra Park from 30/5 Mbps to 400/100 Mbps at no extra cost. The project will construct approximately nine miles of last-mile fiber and four miles of middle-mile fiber, all deployed aerially, ensuring seamless connectivity across the targeted rural communities. All unserved locations are situated in low-income areas, making this initiative a targeted effort to bridge the digital divide in disadvantaged and Environmental and Social Justice communities. Sierra Nevada Communications has committed to offering a low-cost broadband plan compliant with D. 22-04-055, Section 3, and has pledged to maintain these affordable pricing structures for a minimum of ten years, ensuring long-term accessibility and stability for residents.
