Columbus City Schools is soliciting bids for the cleaning and flame retarding of stage curtains and miscellaneous fabric materials across various educational facilities in Ohio. The scope of work requires contractors to clean drapery track hardware, lubricate components, replace missing grommet hooks, and perform a two-stage cleaning process involving industrial extraction and non-toxic cleaners on both sides of all curtains. Following cleaning, a non-toxic, odorless, and colorless flame retardant meeting NFPA and ASTM Class A standards must be applied. The treatment must not damage the appearance or structural integrity of the materials and must be durable enough to withstand periodic vacuuming. Contractors must provide written certification that all treated items pass NFPA 701 standards, with a guarantee of effectiveness for at least five years. Each treated item must be tagged with the chemical used, the date of treatment, and a certificate number. To avoid interrupting the learning environment, all work must be performed after school hours and completed by December 2027. Bidders are subject to performance reviews based on schedule and job site cleanliness. The solicitation period is open until October 7, 2026, and the district encourages participation from Local Economically Disadvantaged Enterprises as part of its outreach program.
