Project Background: Alberta Forestry and Parks (FP) is responsible for forest planning, which involves the creation, review or approval of forest management plans. These plans incorporate the forest policy reflected in the Alberta Forest Management Planning Standard as well as the policies seen in Alberta’s regional and subregional plans created by Environment and Protected Areas (EPA). FP planners are expected to provide policy interpretation and refinement, along with forest management direction from both senior leadership and from subject matter experts to industry. Various briefing materials and action requests are used in this process to ensure accuracy and consistency. To support the planners, FP analysts rely on a variety of data when performing analysis related to briefing materials. FP is looking for support during the creation of briefing materials, during policy interpretation and refinement, and to create precursor data and tools for FP analysts. In some cases, structured analysis of data may be requested of the proponent. This work will be requested of the proponent as needed, and there may be periods of time where requests are not made of the proponent. The work will be tailored to briefing materials being produced. The proponent will be provided with detailed requests on the work needed to be completed and the timelines. Project Objectives: This RFP is for the solicitation of on-demand services related to data processing, timber supply modelling and technical document creation. Proponents must be able to provide the mandatory services and may tailor their bid to provide at least one or more optional services. Mandatory services: • Creation of summary tables and statistical analysis from multiple data sources. • Creation of graphs and other images representing data. • Provide interpretation for results of analysis performed. • Create accurate and concise documentation of the processes used to create the product. Optional services • Manipulation of both polygon- and raster-based spatial data for use in ArcGIS PRO. Manipulation of attribute data associated with spatial data, and the creation of standardized data. Creation of spatial images for use in documentation. • Extraction of data from various timber supply models, including those created in Patchworks or Remsoft Spatial Analyst. Creation or modification of existing timber supply models.
