FY26-DDOT-IPMA-Rehabilitation of Theodore Roosevelt Bridge

The contract involves the rehabilitation of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, also known as Bridge No. 1200 over the Potomac River, with a focus on enhancing multi-modal safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. Key improvements include the installation of approximately 300,000 square feet of new bridge deck, a deck overlay for approach structures, and full roadway replacement. The project will widen sidewalks to provide a clear 10-foot pathway and install 42-inch-tall pedestrian railings and traffic barriers to improve safety and separation. New roadway lighting will be added to match the intensity of existing fixtures, and sign structures will be relocated with updated signage installed. The steel superstructure will be repainted and critical substructure repairs will be performed to ensure long-term durability and structural integrity. This work is part of the District of Columbia’s Department of Transportation’s FY26 Infrastructure Planning and Management Initiative and is forecasted to be released for solicitation on July 23, 2026. The project is being managed by DDOT with the place of performance located over the Potomac River. While the solicitation number and NAICS code are not yet available, the scope reflects a comprehensive rehabilitation effort aimed at modernizing aging infrastructure while prioritizing pedestrian and cyclist safety, and maintaining compliance with existing aesthetic and operational standards. All work will be conducted in alignment with DDOT’s broader transportation enhancement goals for the District.
