Dugway Proving Ground will conduct a free enterprise test week during the week of July 29, 2013, featuring four nights of testing involving the release of bio-simulant aerosols. The event invites independent teams from private industry and government to participate by bringing their own equipment and operators at their own expense. Participants will maintain proprietary rights over their systems and data, with an option to share data with Dugway for access to ground truth information from the event. Dugway will provide essential infrastructure, including power, communication, and basic life support facilities such as latrines, water, and shelter for operators, along with a day allocated for setup, pretesting, and retrograde activities. During the test days, Dugway will conduct multiple controlled releases of a standard bio-simulant, selecting dissemination methods partially based on participant input. Dugway will collect referee and ground truth data using an array of advanced instrumentation, including particle size and viability analyzers and various stand-off detection technologies like APS, UVAPS, LIDAR, STA, and AGI. Participants who share their own collected data will receive a limited dataset from Dugway’s referee systems illustrating the aerosol cloud conditions. Importantly, Dugway will not evaluate participant equipment or data, maintaining a purely facilitative role in this test event. The contract is managed by the Department of Defense's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

General Info

Dugway hosts free bio-simulant aerosol tests with participant-owned equipment, data sharing optional.

Full Description

Dugway will execute a free enterprise test week (4 nights of testing) during the week of July 29, 2013. Participants from private and government are invited to participate as independent teams and will bring their equipment and operators to DPG at their own expense. Participants will document their understanding that their systems and data collected will be kept proprietary. Optionally, participants who include Dugway in their data evaluation will gain access to ground truth data for the event releases. A day of setup and pretest as well for retrograde will be included in the schedule. Dugway will provide power and basic communication resources on the test grid. Additionally, life support resources such as latrine, water, and shelter from exposure will be made available for the operators. On release days, Dugway will conduct multiple releases of standard bio-simulant. Dissemination methods will be determined, in part, from a pre-survey submitted by participants. Referee and ground truth data of the releases will be collected by DPG using an instrumentation array standard to current acquisition testing methods. Examples of instrumentation to be used will include particle size distribution, viability, via point and stand-off units such as APS, UVAPS, LIDAR, STA, and AGI. The participants who opt to reveal data captured during the release events will be supplied a limited data set from the employed referee systems defining the cloud developed by the release as presented to their systems under evaluation. Dugway will not make any evaluations of participant equipment or collected data.
