Hail impact tester

The National Research Council of Canada is seeking the supply of one Hail impact tester designed to simulate hail impacts on photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors in full compliance with IEC 61215-2:2021 for PV modules and ISO 9806:2017 for solar thermal collectors. The system must be capable of reproducing hailstones with precise and repeatable characteristics, specifically within a diameter range of 25 to 75 mm ±5%, including accurate control over size, shape, mass, and density. The equipment must feature an adjustable fixture capable of securely holding samples up to 1.5 m by 1.5 m in both horizontal and tilted orientations, and must operate within an enclosed test chamber equipped with safety interlocks and an emergency stop to ensure operator protection. The system is required to record and log key impact parameters such as velocity, energy, and number of impacts. All electrical components must conform to Canadian national codes and standards and be certified by a Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) accredited certification body or inspected by an SCC accredited inspection body. The contract includes mandatory delivery of installation services, operator training, and ongoing access to remote technical support. Delivery of the complete system must be completed on or before March 29, 2027, at a location in Ontario, excluding the National Capital Region. The estimated contract value is $250,000 CAD. This procurement is issued as a sole source Advance Contract Award Notice due to the absence of competition resulting from technical specificity, and suppliers must submit a written Statement of Capabilities demonstrating full compliance with all mandatory requirements by the deadline of May 25, 2026, at 14:00 EDT to qualify for award consideration.
