Z- Quartz Creek Road Rehabilitation on the Helena Ranger District of the Helena National Forest Project Location - The junction of North and South Fork Quartz Creek Roads is located on the Helena Ranger District approximately 25 miles South of Helena, MT. From Jefferson City, MT, travel west on Corbin Road for approximately 5.5 miles and turn north on Clancy Creek Road. Travel north for approximately 1.4 miles until the junction with Quartz Creek Road. From Clancy, MT, travel west for approximately 7.9 miles until the junction with Quartz Creek Road. The project begins at the forest boundary. Description of Work - The intent of this project is to improve roadways on FS Roads #692 and #1878 and construct drainage features in an effort to prevent sediment transport into adjacent creeks. Work includes, but is not limited to: roadside brushing, road reconditioning, roadway excavation and embankment construction in designated areas, culvert installation, drain dip construction, placing keyed riprap, filling mud holes with unclassified borrow, and seeding all areas disturbed by construction activities. All labor, equipment and materials shall comply with state and local laws for prevention of soil erosion and water pollution. Certain sections of these roads are in extremely poor condition. Much of the roadbed has deteriorated below subgrade to rocks and boulders, and is not easily accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. These areas are difficult to access on an ATV. A site visit prior to bidding on this project is highly recommended. The contractor will be required to verify all lengths, lines, volumes and dimensions. Construction Magnitude is between $100,000 nad $250,000 No formal site visit is scheduled. Contractors should inspect the site on their own prior to quote deadline. See attached site photos for more details. Performance period is 30 calendar days beginning in August of 2012.
