Heliopyxis: Hybrid Metasurface-Integrated Photonic Systems for On-Chip Light Coupling and Manipulation from UV to IR

Heliopyxis is developing hybrid metasurface-integrated photonic systems designed for on-chip light coupling and manipulation across the ultraviolet to infrared spectrum. By integrating nanotechnology and advanced materials onto small chips, the project aims to replace traditional large and expensive optical systems with compact, efficient, and scalable devices. These innovations are intended to drive breakthroughs in high-speed communications, semiconductor manufacturing, and environmental monitoring. The project is funded through an award notice from the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek under the Kennis- en innovatieconvenant, identified by solicitation number KICH1.ST07.24.003. Beyond industrial applications, the initiative focuses on improving medical diagnostics and agricultural tools, seeking to reduce costs and increase the global accessibility of powerful optical sensing and data processing tools to address sustainability and technological efficiency.
