Expression of interest: Small-satellite missions sandpit
Solicitation # 206083
UK Research and Innovation is seeking expressions of interest for a small-satellite missions sandpit designed to bring together approximately 30 researchers and innovators from diverse disciplines. The goal is to co-develop ambitious, challenge-led small-satellite mission concepts focusing on innovative sensors, data streams, and cross-sector enabling technologies to enhance sovereign capability, address national security and societal challenges, and support economic growth. The activity consists of six sessions held between January 26 and February 11, 2027, utilizing a combination of online sessions and a two-day residential event. Total program funding is listed at 1,870,000, with the objective of developing concepts for pump-priming research grants in 2027/2028. Selection of participants is based on core assessment questions focusing on skills and potential contributions rather than track record, with additional consideration given to geographic diversity across all UK regions. Applicants must apply through an Expression of Interest stage, and invited applicants will use the Resume for Research and Innovation format. Mandatory attendance at all sessions is required, with travel and subsistence costs reimbursed and accommodation provided for overnight stays. The program is managed by the UKRI Space Programme team, with the response deadline for the solicitation set for November 25, 2026.

Enabling Technology for Future Missions
Solicitation # 9F063-20260085
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is soliciting proposals under solicitation number 9F063-20260085 for the development of one to three enabling technologies to support future space missions. The primary objective is to advance strategic technologies to reduce technical uncertainties and support the implementation of future Canadian space activities. A specific focus of this effort is the maturation of a lightweight, athermal reflecting telescope capability to Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5. This includes the delivery of a reflecting telescope brassboard validated for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) vibration and thermal-vacuum environments, intended for Earth Observation imaging payloads on CubeSats of 4U or larger, with the telescope itself being 2U or less. Key performance targets include a Ground Sampling Distance of less than 7 metres and a swath width greater than 5 km. The project is planned for a duration of 16 months, structured around five key milestones: a Kick-off meeting, Preliminary Design Review, Detailed Design Review/Work Authorization Meeting, Test Readiness Review, and a Final Review meeting. Deliverables include the hardware brassboard, CAD and performance analysis models, software, and a Technology Roadmap for advancing to TRL 6-8. This solicitation is restricted to Canadian suppliers. Awards will be based on the highest combined rating of technical merit (60 percent) and price (40 percent), with a minimum technical score of 70 points required for consideration. The procurement process includes strict requirements for security clearances, intellectual property disclosure, and adherence to environmentally preferable packaging standards.

Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Destination Contract (CLDC) Technical Library
Solicitation # 80JSC025_CLDC_TECH_LIBRARY
The Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Destination Contract (CLDC) Technical Library, managed by the NASA Johnson Space Center, serves as a centralized repository of technical standards, plans, and guidelines for potential offerors. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the development of private LEO space destinations and supporting systems as NASA prepares for the retirement of the International Space Station. The library provides a series of data drops containing both controlled and uncontrolled technical data, including standards for docking systems, payload interfaces, and crew health operations. It also outlines specific NASA center capabilities and high-value engineering products available to industry partners to reduce technical and schedule risks. It is important to note that this activity is a special notice and does not constitute a Request for Proposals, Invitation for Bid, or Request for Quotation. No proposals are to be submitted in response to this notice, and it does not represent a commitment by the government to enter into a contract. Access to export-controlled content requires the submission of a specific request form and compliance with U.S. export regulations, including the implementation of Technology Transfer Control Plans and Non-Disclosure Agreements for foreign nationals. The library is intended to keep industry updated on current NASA technical standards in anticipation of future FAR-based acquisitions.

Full Description

NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has a requirement with the University of Colorado (CU Boulder) Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) for the purchase of the High-rate Fine Sun Sensor (HFSS) to be used on the NASA GSFC Coronal Diagnostic Experiment (CODEX). The LASP HFSS is a COTS sun sensor that provides calculated solar angles at up to 200 Hz for use in closed-loop attitude control systems. The HFSS is plug-and-play with standard data and power interfaces. The HFSS comes pre-calibrated and produces calculated solar angles for direct use in precision attitude control or for attitude knowledge. It is highly configurable by command with adjustable packet rates, digital filtering, alignment offsets, APID selection, and many other parameters. These sensors evolved into the Fine Sun Sensor (FSS) that was built and tested for NASA flight programs Glory, TSIS, GOES-R-EXIS, and TCTE. The HFSS is providing solar pointing and stabilization for the TSIS 2-axis gimbal on the International Space Station (ISS) NASA/GSFC intends to issue a sole-source Request for Proposal (RFP) to CU Boulder. The estimated period of performance of this cost-no-fee (CNF) contract extension will be for twelve months, from 1 July 2020 through 30 June 2021. CU Boulder is the only organization currently qualified to perform the subject requirement for the following reasons: 1) CU Boulder is the only vendor with specific heritage for this component that operates on the ISS; 2) The HFSS being procured is a build-to-print copy of HFSS for NASA's Total and Spectral Solar Irradiance Sensor (TSIS), and is required for form, fit, and function for CODEX; 3) No other COTS equivalent is flight proven for use on the ISS; and 4) Development/qualifications of a new device would significantly delay the project and therefore not meet the required Launch Readiness Date. Statutory authority for this procurement is 10 U.S.C. 304(c)(1)--Only One Responsible Source. However, organizations that believe they can provide these services without any detrimental impact to the program schedule supported by this work should fully identify their interest and capabilities within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 5 June 2020. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for determining whether to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at https://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html
